  • Job Description

    1. Legal Affairs
    o Review, draft and revise contracts, agreements, and related legal documents.
    o Develop, maintain, and update internal regulations, policies, and guidelines.
    o Analyze contractual risks and propose practical mitigation measures.
    o Provide legal advice and support to management and business units from a business-operation perspective.
    o Manage business licenses and permits required in each country.
    o Conduct legal and regulatory research for new businesses and changes in business models.
    o Support applications and filings with government authorities.
    o Coordinate with external law firms and legal counsel and act as a liaison between regional entities and Japan Headquarters Legal Department.

    2. Risk Management
    o Establish a common risk management framework across the Southeast Asia and India region.
    o Develop and maintain risk assessment frameworks, including methods to identify, analyze, and monitor business risks.
    o Operate and maintain the approval workflow / approval request system.
    o Develop and maintain approval rules and delegation-of-authority policies.
    o Analyze system utilization and propose operational improvements.
    o Develop and implement employee training programs on risk management.
    o Conduct awareness activities to enhance risk sensitivity and risk awareness.
    o Provide guidance and support to subsidiaries in each country.

    3. Compliance Promotion
    o Develop and implement compliance policies, frameworks, and monitoring practices.
    o Roll out and communicate internal rules and compliance requirements.
    o Monitor compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
    o Plan and conduct compliance training programs.
    o Promote awareness of fraud prevention and anti-bribery measures.
    o Implement compliance awareness initiatives for subsidiaries in each country.
    o Share compliance-related information with Japan Headquarters and support headquarters reporting or requests.
    o Deploy and implement region-wide compliance initiatives.

    Note: Internal audit activities performed as an Internal Auditor are not included in the scope of this position.

Qualifications

  • Requirement

    【Must】
    - Japanese language: Business level or above (JLPT N2 preferred and used for screening.)
    - English language: Business level or above (TOEIC approximately 660 or higher.)
    - Practical experience in at least three of the following functions (minimum 3 years of professional experience in one or more of these areas): Legal Affairs; Compliance; Risk Management; Corporate Governance; Internal Controls; License and Permit Management; Policy and Regulation Management.
    - Experience supporting overseas subsidiaries or international projects.
    - Experience working in an English-speaking business environment.

    【Advantage】
    - Master's degree in MBA, LL.M. or qualified lawyer/attorney qualification such as Japan, Thailand or Singapore is an advantage.
    - Overseas assignment or working experience in the ASEAN region
    - Experience working for a trading company or within a regional organization
