Job Description
The Customs Clearance Manager oversees end-to-end Customs brokerage operations and customer service across ocean, air, and cross-border shipments. This role ensures full compliance with Customs laws, government regulations, and company standards,
while driving operational efficiency and service excellence.
The position is critical in minimizing clearance delays, enhancing customer satisfaction, and strengthening the company’s reputation as a reliable and professional logistics service provider. The Manager leads the team in documentation control, coordination with Customs authorities, issue resolution, and continuous process improvement.
- Oversee daily Customs clearance operations and customer service activities for import and export shipments (sea, air, and cross-border), ensuring smooth and efficient execution
- Lead, supervise, and develop the Customs clearance team to drive productivity, service quality, and overall performance
- Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders (e.g., Customs authorities, agents, partners) to ensure seamless operations and effective issue resolution.
- Provide professional guidance and solutions on Customs-related matters, including interpretation and application of relevant laws and regulations
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of import/export declarations (including LCL, FCL, and special cargo), in full compliance with Customs regulations and company SOPs
- Monitor shipment status, identify potential clearance issues, and implement corrective actions to prevent delays
- Manage operational costs while maintaining high service standards and efficiency
- Oversee subcontractors and manage procurement processes related to Customs operations
- Establish, monitor, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate team and operational performance
- Analyze operational data and prepare reports to support management decision-making
- Identify process improvement opportunities and drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and cost optimization
- Ensure compliance through internal controls, audits, SOP adherence, and management review processes, including corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Provide support and expertise for Customs-related matters across other branches when required
- Lead, coach, and develop team members to strengthen capabilities and build a high-performing team
- Conduct performance evaluations and recommend appropriate personnel actions
- Foster effective communication within the team and promote a collaborative, high-performance working environment
Qualifications
Requirement
【Must】
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Customs clearance operations (import/export), including handling multi-modal shipments (sea freight, air freight, and cross-border), with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Customs regulations, tariff classifications, HS Codes, licenses, and import/export procedures.
