Job Description
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key executive leader responsible for driving operational excellence, business transformation, and sustainable growth across the organization.
This role oversees all operational functions, ensures alignment with corporate strategy, and plays a critical role in strengthening organizational performance, profitability, and competitiveness in a rapidly evolving business environment.
1. Operational Excellence & Strategic Execution
- Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the company’s vision, business direction, and long-term objectives
- Oversee and optimize end-to-end operational processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance organizational agility
- Drive operational performance management through clear KPIs and accountability systems
- Manage overall operational budgets and assume full responsibility for P&L performance
2. Hands-on Leadership
- Provide strong hands-on leadership by actively engaging with teams across all levels
- Foster trust, collaboration, and high performance within the organization
- Serve as a role model in discipline, professionalism, and operational excellence
- Support teams through problem-solving and execution guidance
3. Change Management & Organizational Agility
- Analyze market trends, business performance, and organizational challenges to identify improvement opportunities
- Lead strategic transformation initiatives to enhance competitiveness
- Implement change management frameworks to support organizational adaptation
- Cultivate a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and adaptability
4. Business Growth & Financial Turnaround
- Drive revenue growth and profitability to achieve and exceed business targets
- Lead financial restructuring and cost optimization strategies
- Develop modern sales, marketing, and distribution strategies aligned with evolving consumer behavior
- Identify and develop new revenue streams and business opportunities
5. People & Culture Development
- Strengthen leadership capabilities of middle management teams
- Support long-tenured employees in adapting to organizational changes
- Build a performance-driven culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and professional excellence
- Lead talent development and succession planning initiatives
Qualifications
Requirement
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Media, Education, or related fields
Experience
- Proven experience in senior operational leadership roles (COO, Operations Director, or equivalent)
- Demonstrated success in business turnaround, restructuring, or transformation initiatives
- Experience in publishing, media, education, or content-related industries is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of the book business ecosystem, including editorial, production, distribution, and retail operations
